Privacy policy
The short version: your browsing data stays on your device. We don't collect it, sell it or share it.
adblock z is a browser extension that blocks ads, trackers and pop-ups. This policy explains what data the extension handles, and what this website does.
What adblock z does not do
- It does not collect, store or send the addresses of pages you visit, your browsing history, search terms, or page content.
- It does not use analytics, telemetry, crash reporting or advertising code.
- It does not sell, rent or share data with anyone.
- It does not inject ads, rewrite links or add affiliate codes.
- It does not require an account.
How blocking works
adblock z gives your browser a list of blocking rules using the browser's built-in blocking system (called declarativeNetRequest). The browser applies those rules itself. The extension isn't told which addresses you requested or which ones were blocked.
Data stored on your device
The following is kept in your browser's extension storage on your computer. None of it is sent to us.
- Your settings, such as on/off switches, filter-list choices and theme
- Your allowlist (websites where you paused blocking)
- Your custom rules
- Copies of filter lists you subscribe to
- If you turn on statistics: the number of blocked requests per category (ads, trackers, pop-ups, your rules) per day. No addresses or site names are stored.
You can delete all of it at any time under Settings → Privacy → Delete all adblock z data, or by removing the extension.
Optional features and the access they need
These are off until you turn them on. Your browser asks for your permission at that moment.
Statistics
Uses the "declarativeNetRequestFeedback" permission, which your browser describes as "Read your browsing history". adblock z only uses it to ask the browser which of adblock z's own rules matched, and keeps a count per day. Turning statistics off gives the permission back.
Element hiding and advanced anti-tracking
These need access to websites. adblock z uses it only to add hiding styles to pages, remove tracking tags from links, and send the Global Privacy Control signal. It does not read page content.
Extra filter lists (Premium)
adblock z downloads the list from the address you chose, with access to that one website only. These requests don't include cookies or information about you. The list's publisher receives a normal download request (which, like any download, includes your IP address) under their own privacy policy.
Sync (Premium)
Your settings are stored in your browser's built-in sync storage, linked to the account you're signed in to the browser with (your Microsoft account in Edge, or Google account in Chrome). That is handled by the browser maker under their privacy policy. adblock z runs no server for sync, and statistics are never synced.
Premium purchases
Premium isn't on sale yet. When it is, payments will be handled by a payment provider, and this section will name them. We will never receive or store your card details.
This website
This website uses no cookies, analytics, trackers, or third-party fonts or scripts. The company hosting it may keep standard technical logs (such as IP addresses) to keep the site running and secure. We don't use those logs to track you.
Children
adblock z isn't directed at children and collects no personal data from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new date. Important changes will also be mentioned in the extension's release notes.
